Our Research Programs

The Plant Biosecurity Cooperative Research Centre (PBCRC) has four research programs that focus on innovative research and development across the full biosecurity continuum; pre-border, border and post-border. Our research addresses the Australian Government's national research priority of 'safeguarding Australia' by protecting Australia from:

  • invasive diseases and pests, and

  • terrorism and crime.

Project selection process

PBCRC's project selection process is divided into five main stages. In the initial stages the preliminary project proposal is reviewed to ensure it aligns with the PBCRC's objectives. The proposal is then evaluated by the PBCRC's Science Committee. Research projects that are approved by the Science Committee are provided to PBCRC's Advisory Panels for assessment and endorsement prior to submission to the PBCRC Board. Once the Board has granted its approval, the contract between the CRC and relevant participant organisations is executed.

Any general queries regarding the project selection process should be emailed to the PBCRC.
