Registration opens for inspiring global plant health conference

3 March, 2017

REGISTRATIONS ARE NOW OPEN for the biggest international plant health conference of the year -Science Protecting Plant Health 2017 – to be held at the Brisbane Convention Centre, Queensland Australia, from 26-28 September 2017.

Covering plant pathology, entomology, biosecurity and other topics relating to plant health, the conference will bring together 400-500 researchers, students, educators and policy makers to discuss the latest developments in plant protection and take part in an exciting week of science, workshops and networking.

“We have locked in some inspiring keynote speakers,” said conference co-convenor Jennifer Cobon, from the Australasian Plant Pathology Society.

“Leaders in their fields from the UK, the USA, South Africa, New Zealand and Australia will share their latest research and professional insights.”

The draft conference program is now online and in addition to plenary and concurrent sessions will feature a range of field trips and a series of workshops by expert presenters on specific disciplines.

The conference has recently confirmed the support of several major sponsors, including the Australian Department of Agriculture and Water Resources, Plant Health Australia (both Platinum sponsors), the New Zealand Ministry of Primary Industries (Silver sponsor), as well as a rapidly filling exhibition.

“The support of our sponsors ensures we can give delegates a conference to remember,” said Ms Cobon.

The Call for Abstracts is in full swing, with new speakers added almost daily.

“While abstracts are open until 3 April I urge everyone to submit as soon as possible,” said Ms Cobon. “Spots are filling fast and last minute submissions may find speaking opportunities limited.

The conference is jointly presented by the Australasian Plant Pathology Society (APPS) and the Plant Biosecurity Cooperative Research Centre and will incorporate the 21st biennial APPS conference.

Opportunities for sponsoring and exhibiting at the conference are available by contacting or +61 7 3368 2422.
